Maple Sugar Festival 2025

Last month, MILUG participated in the Maple Sugar Festival du Sucre d’Érable at Beban Social Centre in Nanaimo. The event ran February 22nd and 23rd, 2025 and celebrated French culture, community and of course maple sugar! This year’s theme was ‘Welcome to Nanaimo’ as Nanaimo was recently designated as a new Francophone Welcoming Community (CFA), making it one of 24 cities across the country with this title. MILUG members embraced this theme by welcoming the public to Nanaimo’s downtown Commercial Street.
We brought the Maple Sugar Festival to downtown Nanaimo, with Diana Krall plaza filled with people enjoying a big pancake breakfast, live entertainment, and of course toffee on snow – yum!
The streets were filled with vendors, artists and kids’ activities from face painting, to ice sculpting, to magicians, to MILUG’s very own display — all elements the public can enjoy at the annual Maple Sugar Festival.
Once at our display, the public was able to participate in our traditional ‘Seek and Find’ which had kids, young and old, scouring over the display all weekend searching for different LEGO® minifigures, animals or scenes.
If you want to test your seek and find skills, head over to our Facebook album and see if you can find: two Batman, a ball of yarn, Spider-man, a witch, space cat, and hot-dog guy.
In addition to the public display, MILUG had LEGO® Stuntz bikes skee-ball as well as play brick where people could build whatever inspired them throughout the weekend.
MILUG enjoys participating in this fun family and community oriented event and we look forward to next year’s 25th anniversary event. Hope to see you there!
