The Maple Sugar Festival Landed on Planet Endor!
Author: Laura Hawley (MILUG member)
This year at the Maple Sugar Festival du Sucre d’Érable held at Beban Social Centre February 24 and 25, we put a Star Wars spin on a traditional Maple Sugar Festival. With 2024 marking the 25th anniversary of LEGO® Star Wars, MILUG members created a Maple Sugar Festival set on the planet Endor. The true Star Wars fan will recognize we took some creative liberties when blending Endor and the Maple Sugar festival, from Gungans hard at work to collecting sap from Endor’s massive trees, a rancor indulging in some maple syrup, and Jabba the Hutt checking out the pancake breakfast.
Centre stage featured the Ewok-and-Roller’s who entertained the masses bringing people to the dance floor and ice rink alike.
While minifigures enjoyed the festival full of activities, the Empire and its Imperial Army were on high alert protecting the coveted maple sugar from Rebel attack. Barrels upon barrels of Endor’s own maple sugar hidden deep within an Imperial base.
As with a lot of MILUG displays we included a search and find that had adults and kids alike scouring over the display. Mixed amongst the Star Wars characters were various Disney and Marvel characters, including the very elusive Batman that was rarely spotted without a few (and sometimes many) clues from MILUG members.
Those with a keen eye may have also spotted a nod to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
In addition to our main display, MILUG’s play brick returned to the kid’s activity area that provided a space for kid’s to express themselves and be creative with brick!
We had a lot of fun and look forward to next year’s festival!
