MILUG Turns 5!
MILUG recently celebrated our 5th Birthday! As part of the festivities, we did a Birthday Build Challenge, watched a slideshow of the last 5 years, and played some fun games!
MILUG was born at the first BrickCan in 2016 by Laura Hawley, Krista Simpson, and Michael Thomas so I thought I would include some of our other firsts!
The first event we ever did was with our good friends VicLUG (we only had our 3 founding members at the time).
We only had 5 members when we held our first epic draft – we bought a big used lot and drafted it over 2 days.
A gaming and cosplay convention called M-Con was our first local event – it was before we even had our t-shirts.
Our first team speed build at a LEGO convention.
Our first local newspaper coverage.
Our first appearance (via BrickCan) in a broader news outlet. This was a left hand team speed build demonstration.
The first award for a MILUG collaborative build was for our Bavarian Winter Village at BrickCan 2018.
We were very excited to host our first MILUG-driven event in 2019 – Mid Island Brick Fest!
We have had a fantastic first 5 years and look forward to the next 5!
