Pick a Pile of Perfect Pieces!

I have quickly become a fan of LEGO drafts. For some reason the stress of trying to choose a particular pile of pieces at just the right time during a draft is particularly enjoyable.

MILUG has now done 3 drafts and we are all starting to learn the pieces that different members gravitate towards. This is both a blessing and a curse. There is some comfort knowing there is a good chance I will get quite a few of the pieces I am after as others focus on getting their top 5 as well. But there is definitely some overlap among members’ interests which can result in choosing a smaller pile sooner than I want to just to make sure it ends up coming home with me.

Another strategy is to forgo a favourite piece to obtain a pile of pricey pieces or to pick a pile you might be able to use in a trade. Regardless of your draft M.O. it is a lot of fun and a great way to spend an evening among friends.

The best part is feeling like a kid on Halloween when I get home and dump out all my pieces so I can sort them into piles and relish in a job well done.
